Treatment & Conditions
Can chiropractic care treat migraines or tension headaches?
Yes. Research shows that chiropractic adjustments can reduce nerve irritation and relax tight muscles in the neck and shoulders. Many patients report fewer and less intense headaches after consistent care.
Is chiropractic allowed during pregnancy?
Chiropractors use gentle, pregnancy-safe techniques that help ease lower back pain, reduce pelvic discomfort, and improve mobility. Care is always customised to ensure the safety of both mother and baby, including through the use of pregnancy cushions.
Can chiropractors help with sciatica or nerve pain?
The research says yes. By relieving pressure on the sciatic nerve, chiropractic adjustments can reduce sharp pain, numbness, or tingling in the legs. Supportive exercises may also be recommended to prevent flare-ups.
Will adjustments help with posture or desk-related back/neck pain?
Misalignments caused by long sitting hours or poor posture can be aided with chiropractic care. This not only aims to relieve pain but also helps to retrain your body for healthier alignment.
Can children receive chiropractic treatment?
Yes. Pediatric chiropractic care uses gentle, age-appropriate techniques to support healthy growth and address common issues like posture concerns or sports injuries.
Are there chiropractic techniques for sports injuries?
Yes. Athletes have been to known to benefit from customised adjustments that promote faster recovery, improve flexibility, and reduce the chance of repeat injuries.
Is chiropractic helpful after a car accident?
After a car accident, adjustments can ease stiffness, restore range of motion, and support long-term healing. Many patients notice steady improvement within a few visits. Just make sure you tell your practitioner about your accident prior to commencing treatment.
Can chiropractic care support recovery post-surgery or during rehabilitation?
In many cases, yes. Chiropractic care can complement rehab by helping to restore joint mobility, reducing scar tissue, and supporting overall healing. We always coordinate care with your wider medical team as needed.
What do I need to do before my treatment?
Tell your practitioner if you have any known allergies or contagious diseases, or if you think you might be pregnant. Please also let them know about any medications, vitamin supplements or herbs you may be taking, and about any recent surgeries or injuries.
What do I need to do after a treatment?
Your practitioner will often give you tips on how to enhance the effect of your treatment — this may include applying heat, drinking water or taking nutritional supplements. Occasionally you may feel slightly light-headed for a few minutes after a session; please wait for this to pass before driving.
What to Expect / Safety
Are chiropractic adjustments painful?
Typically not. Most patients find adjustments comfortable and even relieving. You may feel mild soreness after your first session, but it typically fades quickly — similar to post-exercise muscle fatigue.
What is a chiropractic adjustment, and what does it involve?
An adjustment is a precise, controlled movement applied to a joint to restore alignment and function. The process is quick, targeted, and adapted to your comfort level.
Why does my back 'pop' or 'crack' during adjustment?
That sound is simply gas releasing from the joint space. It’s a normal part of the process and doesn’t mean bones are ‘cracking’.
Is it safe to get chiropractic care if I have conditions like osteoporosis, arthritis, or heart issues?
In many cases, yes. Chiropractors use modified, gentle techniques to avoid stressing vulnerable areas. Your health history is always reviewed first to ensure safe and effective treatment.
How quickly might I feel relief, and how many sessions are usually needed?
Some patients notice relief right away, while others improve gradually over several visits. The number of sessions depends on your condition, overall health, and personal goals.
How long will it take?
Each therapy we offer takes a different amount of time, ranging from 10 minutes to 90 minutes. Our experienced support team will make sure you know how long your treatment will take upon making a booking.
Are my medical records private?
Absolutely. We treat all patients’ records with the utmost respect, and everything you discuss with your practitioner is completely confidential.
What if I have X-rays?
Bring them with you! When you’re seeing a practitioner for the first time, please bring any X-rays or other relevant medical documents so we can give you the best level of care possible.
Appointments / Payments / Insurance
How much will it cost me?
That entirely depends on you and your individual health needs. We offer a wide range of therapies, so we’re able to find a solution for most budgets. (As with most providers these days, fees may change without notice. We will do our best to advise you should this occur.)
How do I pay for treatments
We accept all major payment methods — credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and American Express), EFTPOS and cash. (Unfortunately, we cannot accept personal cheques.)
Can I put treatments on account?
Unfortunately not. We ask that you pay for all treatments at the time of service.
Did you know that it is possible to organise a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) from your GP that covers up to five allied health visits per calendar year, which can be used towards chiropractic care? For more information, chat to your GP.
Do you offer bulk billing?
Sadly, no. We do not offer bulk billing.
Can I claim private health insurance?
Absolutely (assuming you have private health insurance). Just be sure to check with your health insurance provider first to see if you’re covered. Please note that some private health funds don’t allow you to claim two different health services in one day — check with your fund for more information.
Can I claim private health on-site?
Yes. True Health has partnered with HealthPoint so you can claim on-the-spot — all you pay on the day (after swiping your private health card) is the remaining gap.
Will you accept any private health fund?
Pretty much, yes. Our practitioners are recognised by the vast majority of Australian private health funds; but if for some reason yours isn’t, let us know in advance and we can investigate.
How do I claim private health?
If you don’t have your member card with you, you can pay in full and claim through your health fund’s website or mobile app, or mail your printed receipt to your fund.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that sometimes life gets in the way. If you need to cancel your appointment, please give us 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made within 24 hours may incur a cancellation fee — typically the full cost of the treatment, except for chiropractic, which is charged at $50 per session.
Other Common Questions
Do I need a referral from a medical doctor to see a chiropractor?
No, most patients can schedule directly without a referral.
Can I combine chiropractic care with physical therapy or massage?
Yes. In fact, combining these services often produces better results by addressing both structural alignment and muscle health.
What should I do to maintain benefits between visits?
We provide simple exercises, stretching routines, and posture tips to support your recovery. Following these at home helps extend the benefits of care.
What practitioner should I see?
We understand the importance of finding a practitioner you’re comfortable with. Our lovely support team are masters at pairing patients with the right practitioner. Give us a call on 03 9578 4912 and we’d be more than happy to offer some guidance.
