About

Treating People, Not Symptoms, Since 2000
Behind the Practice

Our Story

True Health opened in 2000, when Dr Katelyn Jacka set up a chiropractic practice on the corner of North and Grange Roads in Ormond. She started with a fairly simple conviction: that healthcare works better when it treats the whole person rather than the symptom that happened to walk through the door.

More than 25 years later, we’re still on that corner — but a lot else has changed. What began as a single-practitioner chiropractic clinic has grown into a multi-disciplinary practice offering chiropractic, remedial massage, manual lymphatic drainage and acupuncture, with a team of practitioners and support staff who look after families across Ormond, Bentleigh, McKinnon, Carnegie and the wider bayside south-east. Katelyn remains our principal chiropractor and still sees patients most days of the week.

Our Philosophy

We believe real health is more than the absence of illness. It’s physical, mental and emotional balance — and it looks different for every person, which is why every treatment plan here starts with listening rather than assuming.

We treat people, not symptoms. That means asking what you’re actually trying to get back to, whether that’s lifting your grandchildren, running a half marathon, or simply getting through a workday without your neck seizing up. It also means being honest about what we can and can’t help with, and pointing you elsewhere when someone else is the better fit.

You won’t find white coats or confusing jargon here. Our practitioners explain what’s going on in your body in plain English, and we work alongside your GP and any medications or treatment you’re already receiving — never instead of them. We also think getting healthy should be something you don’t dread. We’re not drill sergeants; where’s the fun in that?

The Clinic Today

Multiple therapies operate under one roof, which means your care can be coordinated rather than fragmented across several different clinics. If your lower back needs both hands-on adjustment and soft tissue work, that conversation happens between practitioners in the same building.

Our team includes chiropractors with postgraduate training in paediatric care and further qualifications in naturopathy, nutrition and exercise rehabilitation; a Head of traditional Chinese medicine leading our acupuncture service; and remedial massage therapists with focuses spanning sports therapy, deep tissue, pregnancy and post-natal care, and manual lymphatic drainage. Several speak languages other than English, including Polish, Portuguese, French and German.

Perhaps the thing we’re quietly proudest of is how long people stay. Several of our practitioners have been part of True Health for well over a decade — some closer to 20 years — and our front desk team have a habit of remembering your name and your kids’ names before you’ve finished walking in.

We see patients at every stage of life, from very young through to grandparents, and the clinic is set up accordingly: pram and wheelchair access, pregnancy massage cushions, family rates, on-site parking off Grange Road, and a seven-minute walk from Ormond station. We also welcome children with additional needs, and ask for a little patience from everyone in the waiting room in return.
