Matthew Smith believes in the principles of natural healing; by balancing your qi, or life force, your body restores its equilibrium and activates your body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Born in Dunedin, New Zealand, Matt moved to Melbourne at a very young age. On completing high school Matt initially studied five-star hotel management in New South Wales, at the exclusive Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School.
He spent the next 10 years working in five-star hotels across Australia and Asia, completing a corporate traineeship with Hyatt International in 1994.
Upon meeting his future wife Katelyn in 2000, Matt decided to study Health Science. He gained his massage qualifications in 2001 and Traditional Chinese Medicine qualifications in 2006, which included travelling to China in 2005 for advanced training in TCM at Guangxi TCM University.
Matt was originally drawn to energy manipulation and TCM through studying the traditional Japanese martial art Jiu-jitsu, which sparked his interest in understanding Eastern philosophy. He continues to train in Tai Chi and today practices the Cheng 37 posture form and Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu.
In early 2011, Matt was introduced to a unique system of natural healing called Total Body Modification (TBM). This therapy aims to identify the roadblocks to health by using Applied Kinesiology, nutritional wellness and lifestyle modifications.
Away from work Matt enjoys his pets, photography, cooking, Eastern philosophy and martial arts, good food and great wine.
Matt’s treatments blend the principles of TCM and TBM into a unique method of natural healing. His desire is to help you be the best you possibly can without the need for medication or surgery.
